First TFQC Champion Award with More to Come Soon

The first TFQC Champion Award was given out to Genesis Health System on October 28th, 2021. The award was accepted by Jamie Smith, Tobacco Cessation Coordinator at Genesis’ Cardiopulmonary Rehab Facility. Genesis is an active TFQC coalition member agency. They also have a comprehensive tobacco and nicotine-free workplace policy that helps to support the health of their patients and employees. TFQC anticipates more awards to be delivered in the coming weeks to other local organizations that are helping to support TFQC’s mission of reducing the impact of tobacco and nicotine in our area.

To qualify for the award, an organization should have a tobacco and nicotine-free workplace policy that includes the following key elements: covers all tobacco and nicotine products that are not approved by the FDA for cessation purposes; applies to employees and visitors; is in effect at all times; and extends to company vehicles as well. Please let TFQC know if you have an organizational policy that meets this criteria and qualifies you for the TFQC Champion Award. Our local Tobacco Program Coordinators can also help your organization to create a new or strengthen an existing policy to help you to qualify as well. Our email is [email protected].
